Each year a new record: 658 films submitted this year. It means more than 9 thousand minutes, or 150 hours. 96 titles were chosen, besides 12 films others produced at the Kinoforum Audiovisual Workshops. These 108 works represent what the most interesting and challenging is being made in Brazil nowadays - both films awarded at several national and international film festivals and world premieres. In order to compose such an extensive program, we invited a diverse selection committee: ten people from different states and backgrounds, including three undergraduate students. After some meetings, messages and discussions, our selection is an indication that the Brazilian audiovisual scenario is very plural and offer many views of our world and nation. The movies come from veteran filmmakers and others presenting their first films. We intend to broaden the debate of what kind of nation our short films show in their images. This is our notion not only on our selection and programming: after the screenings, the directors and/or cast and crew presented will talk about their films to the audience. We hope that these films may spark healthy discussions and inspirations, whether on the urgent issues that surround us or in the years to come.
