Presentation
The Kinoforum Workshops on Audiovisual Production have been going on since the year 2001 as an activity of the São Paulo Short Film Festival providing audiovisual Production workshops in various communities in the city of São Paulo and eventually in nearby boroughs. From the pilot project we have produced 48 workshops with the partnership of many cultural associations where 713 pupils have produced, directed and photographed 168 digital short films from their own initial arguments.
Objectives
Through the workshops it is expected the unmasking of new outlooks, universes and image conceptions deriving from social groups who inhabit these areas which still have limited access to the audiovisual production and exhibition.
The workshops objectives are: to bring the population near to the cinema, as a form of popular expression; to enable the making of films in digital format - with low cost and simple production schemes and also to encourage these communities’ growth and interest on the audiovisual and cultural production as a whole. Thus defining itself as a model of cultural action that makes films, reveals new outlooks and integrates the Festival into the city.
Target Audience
The Kinoforum Workshops are aimed at the youth interested in the audiovisual area with no previous experience required. The project intends especially, to take care of the needed population living in communities on the outskirts of São Paulo. Forty workshops were held and 168 digital short films were produced by over 713 students.
